Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, 27 year old William Rot has directed award-winning work such as his first short film “The Journal of Edmond Deyers (2005),” which grabbed “Best Short Horror Film” by America’s premier horror magazine, Fangoria. This nationwide search for America’s best short horror films led to exhibitions in film festivals such as CineVegas and the subsequent DVD release of Rot’s short film on “Fangoria’s Blood Drive II (2005)” landing him his first interview in Fangoria (Issue no. 247).

In 2009, Rot directed, photographed, and edited an emotional and poetic music video “Bleed for Something Beautiful (2009).” The music video was produced for one of Rock’s biggest voices Keith Caputo for a love ballad featuring Flea on trumpet. Caputo remarks, “This video is so graceful, tasteful and sophisticated. It is stylish and is the best goddamn video I was a part of, and I have done at least 14 or 15 videos throughout my ‘career.’” During the initial release of the music video, Fred Durst commented “I love the low-lighting and feel of this video,” and Visions Magazine, Germany’s biggest music magazine, gave Caputo and Rot a gracious mention in an article about their first music video collaboration.

In 2010, Rob Zombie hand-picked William Rot’s horror cartoon “Trick (2010)” as a finalist for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights Film Competition. “A FANTASTIC Halloween short,” exclaimed Adam Green, as the film garnered high praise across the web, including horror website Shock Til You Drop, who marked the film as “twisted.”

Beyond film, Rot began collaboration with visionary painter and sculptor, KD Matheson, on an erotic art installation titled, “Black Rain, White Stains. (2010).” The exhibit opened at the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas during their 2nd year anniversary on September 11, 2010.

William Rot currently lives and works in Hollywood, California.
